Microorganisms enhance the nutrition, yield, and protection of hemp
The lecture focuses on the mechanisms and possibilities of using microbe-based preparations, especially mycorrhizal fungi, bacteria, and mycoparasitic fungi for improving the nutrition of cannabis, optimizing cannabinoid production, and protecting against root and leaf pathogens.
Examples of experiments will be shown, verifying the functionality of individual microorganisms, their combinations, and the possibilities of their application, for example on biochar granules or in the form of seed coating.

At the lecture, you will learn about the current situation regarding the treatment and cultivation of medicinal cannabis in the Czech Republic, what changes the legislation has brought us since January 1, 2026. In February of this year, a round table discussion on the topic of cannabis and its further journey in the Czech Republic took place in the Chamber of Deputies. Let's take a look together at where the next challenges for medicinal cannabis lie.
MVDr. Ing. Václav Trojan, Ph.D. is a Czech expert specializing in molecular biology and plant physiology in relation to human health. He graduated from Mendel University in Brno and the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno.
In 2012, he co-founded the Technology Transfer Center at Mendel University, focusing on collaboration between the academic sphere and the private sector, and served as its director from 2015 to 2019.
Since 2019, he has led the Cannabis Facility team at the International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno, where he focuses on research and production of medicinal cannabis.
He is also the chief organizer of the "Cannabis and Science" conference, which addresses professional discussions on the use of cannabis in medicine. His work significantly contributes to the development of medicinal cannabis research and its application in clinical practice.

Originally educated as a historian and English speaker from the Faculty of Arts at Palacký University in Olomouc, he has been working for several years as a translator, journalist, editor, and social media manager focusing on cannabis and its therapeutic and other uses.
Lukáš is currently the publisher and editor-in-chief of the first Czech printed magazine on cannabis treatment called Konopí. In addition, he is the manager of the Czech Hemp Cluster CzecHemp, the vice-chairman of the association Legalizace.cz, a co-founder of the association Racionální regulace, and an initiative Rodiny proti prohibici.
He is also the author and translator of a number of publications for both the general and professional public and often lectures on cannabis at conferences both at home and abroad.
